May 2006
Work has started on
the Fitness Center renovation project this month as contractors
were on site
by Tuesday May 16th. The Club will be emailing
updates on the progress and they expect this project to be done
by October 30, 2006.
The renovation
should stay on schedule as it is entirely under the current roof
line and will therefore not be impacted by summer
thunderstorms.
The renovation
project is scheduled to be done in three Phases. The first
Phase converts the current tennis pro shop and office space into
a new and larger aerobics room that will include a state of the
art aerobics floor and a new sound system. During this
Phase of construction court reservations and other tennis
business will be conducted at the Fitness Center reception
desk. The Tennis Professional’s office will also be temporarily
located at the Fitness Center reception desk. Telephone numbers
remain the same.
As Phase One
progresses it will be necessary to identify a “staging area” for
contractors’ supplies, building materials, dumpsters and the
Port-a-Jon's. The staging area will be close to the building
which will temporarily reduce the number of parking spaces.
Phase Two
should begin in mid-July. This Phase will be the most
disruptive and most labor intensive of the three Phases. Phase
Two converts the current aerobics room into a new cardio room.
The walls in the current aerobics room will be extended out
towards the Marina under the existing roof line. The new walls
will be primarily glass. The finished product will provide the
membership with new cardio equipment, a completely new
audio-visual system and a spectacular view of the Marina. We
expect Phase One to be complete as we begin Phase Two minimizing
any impact on the aerobics schedule.
Phase Three
will finish-up with the current weight room. Additional
equipment and a new floor are scheduled to be installed during
Phase Three.
The Club
assures us that every effort will be taken to minimize
inconvenience to the Members. Management cautions us all that
surprises and schedule changes are part of any construction
project, and they will do their best to inform everyone about
what we can expect as work progresses. |
